It’s safe to say that Airbnb has irrevocably changed the way we travel. Gone are the days when we had to pay minimum $150 to literally stay in a shoebox-sized hotel room with only a bed, lamp and a fridge filled with $20 chocolate bars.
Now, thanks to the holiday rental booking website, your money goes so much further and the options are almost endless. You get to stay in a place that’s already furnished with homely comforts and can even be a little more picky about the neighbourhood you’re staying in.
But we’d be lying if we said we didn’t at least partially choose Airbnb listings based on their Insta-worthiness. It seems Airbnb are onto us, as they’ve taken to posting some of their prettier listings to their Instagram account. And luckily for us, CNBC have compiled all of their most-liked snaps of 2017 into a handy list for our browsing pleasure! Whether you pin them to your 2018 travel Pinterest board or use them for interior inspo for your own home, we guarantee they’re an absolute feast for the eyes.
The best part of a long day on the slopes might be the moment when you take off your boots, sit down by the fire, and feel yourself start to melt. Photo credit: @mr.vanholt
This cabin in Washington is pretty much the architectural embodiment of ‘hygge.’ It’s not too hard to see why it racked up 47,700 likes on Instagram, making it Airbnb’s most liked post of 2017!
Welcome winter from a lovingly renovated Packwood cabin packed with, well, wood. Tend the fire, lounge in the book-filled nook with a mug of cocoa, or brave the few steps between the back door and the soaking tub that overlooks your backyard—aka Gifford Pinchot National Forest. ⠀ Photo: @livewanderfly
What is it with Washington and super cute, A-frame cabins? This one, which accommodates six guests, wasn’t far behind at 47,400 likes.
It’d be nice to linger here all morning, but your buddy has already spotted the stairs to the beach. This cabin on Lake Superior has just about everything either of you could want: a secret nook, a lakeside firepit, and the constant sound of little waves breaking on the pebbly shore. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Photo: @s.k.coffee
We can imagine doing some very deep thinking in this lakeside cabin. Preferably by a window, with a cute dog and a coffee — a la this snap, which garnered more than 46,000 likes.
As if being surrounded by Mayan ruins and Mexico’s most standout beaches wasn’t enough, welcome to your ultra-chic private sanctuary in downtown Tulum. Because after a day of swimming in cenotes––natural swimming holes––or sprawling out oceanside, you’ll need some quiet time in your tranquil backyard to recharge for another day of unparalleled fun. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Photo:@heywanderer
Ugh, can you just imagine the Instagram pics you could take in this Mexican apartment? “From the waterfall wall filled with orchids, thirty-year-old interesting trees, the Indian monastery door, rounded corners, pleasing colours and a crystal clear clean mini pool surrounded by a white mayan rock walls, the view are beautiful and the feeling is peaceful,” reads the listing. Yes, please!
This unique three-room tree house is a children's storybook fantasy come true. The best part is, this magical escape is conveniently located within city limits. Wake up to the sounds of bullfrogs and crickets. Spend your day relaxing by the creek or exploring downtown Atlanta. When dinner time calls, eat pizza under the stars. Just tell the delivery person to follow the fairy lights. ⠀ Photo: @justindemutiis_nature
Who wouldn’t want to stay in a treehouse for a night (or seven!) — especially when it looks like this one! It’s a suite of three rooms connected by rope-bridges. Talk about eco-luxury!
Whether you’re spending a few days or a few weeks in Amsterdam, find a nook that offers that home-sweet-home feeling. You and your travel companions will need it, especially when you’re out and about at local landmarks like the Stedelijk Museum and Dam Square. Need a breather from all the urban exploration? Simply retreat back to this Vondelpark apartment with its private backyard for some R&R and a cold glass of Grolsch. ⠀ Photo: @rach.dacosta
We’re suckers for any home that features crisp, white interiors and it seems we’re not alone, with this gorgeous Amsterdam apartment attracting more than 42,800 likes.
A bright and charming fully furnished apartment with views of the Sacré-Cœur? That’s a “oui” all the way. This Parisian gem, located between Gare du Nord and Montmartre, is easily accessible to all photo-worthy landmarks (and boulangeries)––the perfect starting point for a day of sightseeing. ⠀ Photo: @yiyinzhang
This quintessentially French apartment is one of the more affordable places on the list, currently priced at $138 per night. Don’t be surprised if there’s a bit of a wait list though, considering this post racked up more than 42,400 likes!
The giant windows of this cliffside flat overlook not just the sea but also, according to one recent guest, “whales, dolphins, and black cockatoos.” Hike to Mollymook beach for a surf lesson or, if you’re more of a “shallow” type, take a dip in the safe tidal pool called the Bogey Hole. ⠀ Photo: @karen__png
Does it get any more luxe than this top floor, waterfront apartment on NSW’s South Coast? It’s little wonder this snap has been liked more than 38,500 times!
If you like the view from your bedroom, wait ‘til you climb to the rooftop deck. This penthouse on the slopes of Table Mountain makes you feel like you’re high above it all, even though you’re only a short walk from the city center—and an even shorter one from blueberry flapjacks at the Sidewalk Cafe. ⠀ Photo: @vikisfashionmoments
Okay, maybe we spoke too soon — this penthouse with 360-degree ocean and city views may actually give the last listing a run for its money in the luxury stakes!
