Have you been feeling a little, um, unsettled this month? Perhaps there’s a bunch of changes happening at the office or at home, and you can’t quite get it together. If you listen to astrologers, February 2017 is going to be one of the biggest months of the year, with two eclipses bringing about more change than normal—during this period, anything is possible. As writes, this month has the power to “crack you wide open and bring sudden changes that realign you to your soul’s plan. Eclipse season 2017 is also doubly charged because 2017 is a ‘1’ universal year in numerology, with a strong Uranus, Jupiter, and Saturn influence. The combination of all these elements is about sudden liberation and expansion in a karmic way.” So prepare for things to get a little crazy.
Astrologer and coach Jennifer Racioppi explained to us over email that Eclipses have the power of “three lunar cycles rolled into one—they are potent and bringers of change.” Astrologers believe that eclipses are a time when the universe quickly reroutes your course to bring you back to your true purpose—which means this month is the perfect time to get serious about your intentions. Eclipse season becomes comes when we as humans resist the change.
Racoppi told us that this cosmic wildcard occurs at least two times a year when “there is a solar eclipse at the new moon, and a lunar eclipse at the full moon, generally in pairs. This is eclipse season.”
Because this time of the year can feel unsettling, she says it’s important to actively stay grounded through diet, preparation, and self love. “I think the best way to prepare for an eclipse is simply know it’s coming. Once it’s on your radar you can set aside time to plan for it.” Now is the time to really look after yourself through self care activities like simply taking time out to stretch, meditate, take a bath, or indulge in a face mask at home.
“Make sure you are exercising, eating, and sleeping. Pay attention to unresolved issues that might blow up and preemptively address them,” she counseled us. Other modifications to your diet and routine, like cooking for yourself in you own kitchen more often, choosing grounding foods like root vegetables (parsnips, sweet potatoes, and carrots) and greens that grow from the grounds (like kale, collard greens, and chard), are also believed to be more important during this time And, of course, if things are feeling particularly rocky, you could always visit an astrologer to see what this eclipse season has planned for you.
